Remembering Our Fallen Heroes

Shane Brown

July 21, 1978 - December 24, 2003
Paramedic/FF Shane Brown was tragically killed while responding to an EMS call while on duty
with DeSoto Fire District 8. Shane was employed with DPEMS part-time for two years, first as a
Basic then as a Paramedic. He always had a big smile and a kind word for whomever he met.
He was our little brother who we will all miss and will never forget.
May you rest in peace.
Joe Prock

August 5, 1953 - April 1, 2006
EMT/FF Joe Prock was brutally murdered by two cowards during an home invasion of his
mother's house. Joe was a retired Captain of twenty years with Caddo Fire District 3 and an
employee of DPEMS for the past four years. Joe had just become a full time employee upon
his retirement from the fire department. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, friend,
EMT, and firefighter (a true hero). Pe-paw or Uncle Joe's (as he was affectionately known)
smile and laugh can never be replaced. He will be greatly missed and will never be forgotten.
May you rest in peace.
